Every day, a small number of working people try hard to make it, but instead, they quietly fall off the edge of a cliff. We don’t notice it because it’s such a small number of people falling daily. Often, they find a way to get back up. Maybe another job opens up, and they go on with their lives. People are resilient. When you have kids, there’s no option but to be resilient. You must figure it out and push through the anxiety, self-doubt, and depression. But with covid, the ability to rebound has been disproportionately altered. These families are generally job insecure, housing insecure, and are usually unable to afford adequate health care. By robbing Peter to pay Paul, families are left with too few resources to secure food.”

About

THANK YOU!

To all of you who have or are supporting our film, A Rising Tide, we
would like to say a heartfelt ‘Thank you!’. This project has been a journey, and while making any film is just the first step, in this project, it is crucial to get wide distribution because A Rising Tide has work to do! SWFCenter is
confident we will get it done with your ongoing advocacy.

At our organization, we all have been getting the conversation wrong about who, how, and why people live without housing. We made this film to shift that narrative. Your insistence that our elected officials ACT NOW will create the political will necessary to change the narrative so that
housing in America becomes a human right! Additionally, we
must promote the understanding that all of us are human!

Those of you who came to the A Rising Tide event on 8/6 were
given four postcards that you should have addressed to your local,
county, state, and federal representatives. The graphic below
tells you how to find out who those representatives are and
Where to send those postcards.
To the left, you see me mailing the cards turned in. If you still
have postcards or want us to send you some, contact
swfcenter4sj@gmail.com. Even If you don’t have our cards, getting some postcards and mailing them is worthwhile. Let us know if you do. Use your power in every imaginable way!
